Vineyards and Territory

One grapevine, one wine. The wine makers from Piedmont know how to recognise the surplus value of their products, so do the wine experts, together with the shoppers, the tourists who appreciate the beauty of our region and the quality of our wine.

The wines from Tre Secoli take the name from seven prestigious vineyards, very well known in the local territory but also internationally. The red and white soil in the Monferrato area with its hills are the perfect ground for our excellent vineyards – each of them recalls the wine name.

barbera_astiBarbera has been always a very popular vineyard, with over sixty millions of bottles produced Barbera is a must. In comparison Brunello and Barolo, the classy Italian wines, produce nine millions of bottles. Barbera grapes have a medium size, a long brown stem and a green small bunch. During the first ten days of October usually the Barbera grape ripens and after the harvest it will be divided in two types: Barbera d’Asti e Barbera del Monferrato.

MoscatoMoscato is high maintaince vineyard, it usually prefers chalky soil and it is very sensitive to the cold. Heavenly Moscato is geographically located between the Municipality of Mombaruzzo and the Municipality of Ricaldone, two areas particularly suitable for this grape. In these areas the vineyard can gradually ripen without compromising the sugar gradation. The grape name is Moscata bianca, from which one obtains the typical “Asti” wine with its light yellow shade and a sweet flavour. Through the so-called “spumantizzazione” process one obtains the Asti Spumante.

BracchettoTwenty years ago Brachetto almost ran the risk to disappear due to the lack of business and prestige. Brachetto is indeed a very peculiar vineyard that requires constant and non-stop care. Thanks to the commitment of some enthusiastic wine makers the vineyard Brachetto has now become very popular. In the last twenty years Brachetto has received a large number of appreciations as a dessert wine. In its territory of origin – the area of Acqui, up to the Belbo Torrent – it receives always important awards and acknowledgements. Brachetto is an intense and fine red wine with a well balanced sweetness and a very aromatic flavour.

FreisaFreisa is a young sparkling wine that typically grows in the Monferrato's vineyard and it has a late and resistant ripening. Freisa is a sweet wine with an intense floral flavour.

dolcetto_ovadaComing from the North of Piedmont one reaches the main area diffusion of the Dolcetto vineyard. In part this vineyard has given up some of its space to the Moscato wine, although it is still growing on the highest and most windy hills. Dolcetto has a early ripening. This wine is perfect for everyday and very popular among wine makers and shoppers. Dolcetto is low in acid with its outstanding taste it is always very enjoyable in particular when it is young

CorteseIn the Alto Monferrato area Cortese means the perfect dry white wine. From this vineyard one obtains “gentle” wines. In Italian Cortese means indeed well-mannered, fine. This wine is a scented and light-bodied product. It is a very fine wine that can be used also for the production of spumanti. Although not so famous as the Gavi wine, the Cortese dell'Alto Monferrato is definitely a leading wine.

ChardonnayChardonnay wine is less characteristic and peculiar in comparison the vineyard we just named. On the other hand it is extremely widespread. The South of Asti and the Alto Monferrato area are the perfect environment for its growth. Over there it has produced in two typologies: young wines and complex wines. In particular these are very long-lasting and are vinified in the famous “barriques” (small oak barrels).
